Covid 19 Regulations

During the COVID-19 pandemic, HVSST is dedicated to providing services that are second to none while maintaining the highest safety standards possible to ensure safe treatment for both our staff and customers. HVSST has always been dedicated to the highest level of care and this dedication remains our top priority. We are open during these difficult times to provide ongoing treatment and progress towards our patients’ goals. Currently, we are providing both on-site as well as virtual therapy options to maintain safety and efficacy among all our clients. While offering these options, please note that our practices are in compliance with government mandate: Mandatory face protection is required by all who enter our facility.

Teletherapy:

Our teletherapy options offer the most comprehensive and secure virtual options available to keep therapy fun and effective. These are not just your average zoom sessions. We offer a high-tech secure platform to provide top-of-the-line interactive experiences with our amazingly talented therapists.

Office Sessions:

We have just opened our doors once again for in-person services. At HVSST you are not just a patient, you are family members that we develop deep and lasting care for. We are dedicated to ensuring the health and safety of all our families with top-of-the-line disinfecting procedures second to none. We understand that we service many high-risk populations and take that responsibility very seriously. We have implemented a variety of safety precautions that will be strictly enforced to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please see below for a list of changes we have currently implemented to keep you and your loved ones safe.

Staff:

  • All staff will be tested for COVID-19 and confirmed negative prior to returning to work on July 6, 2020.
  • All staff members are required to sign a waiver indicating that they have not knowingly been in contact with anyone who is confirmed or is suspected to have COVID-19. Additionally, all staff members will acknowledge they have not visited locations that the CDC views as a high-risk site.
  • If any staff members have been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case or visited a high-risk site, staff members will be asked to quarantine for a minimum of 14 days and provide therapy via teletherapy. Additionally, staff members will be required to have a confirmed negative COVID-19 test prior to returning to the facility.
  • Prior to entering the facility, all staff members are to have their temperatures taken daily and record them on a record sheet.
  • All staff entering facility must have a facemask worn at ALL TIMES. Facemasks MUST be worn over both the nose and mouth. We are providing specialized clear mouth masks to therapists to wear during sessions were visualizing the mouth is important to the therapeutic progress.

Patients:

  • Prior to each therapy treatment, patients are to sign a waiver indicating that they have not knowingly been in contact with anyone who is confirmed or is suspected to have COVID-19. Additionally, patients will acknowledge they have not visited locations that the CDC views as a high-risk site.
  • If a patient has either been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case or visited a high-risk site, the patient will be asked to quarantine for a minimum of 14 days and receive therapy via teletherapy.
  • We ask that only one caregiver accompany each patient to each session.
  • Patients are to remain in their vehicles and call the office upon arriving and await to enter until office personnel directs them to enter the facility.
  • Prior to entering the facility all patients/caregivers are to have their temperatures taken. Temperatures must be within the normal range to receive services.
  • Anyone entering the facility must have a facemask worn at ALL TIMES. Facemasks MUST be worn over both the nose and mouth.
  • Anyone entering the facility is to use hand sanitizer which will be provided at the entrance.
  • Caregivers can choose to accompany patients into the session, or they can choose to remain in the waiting area (while practicing appropriate social distancing). They may also choose to wait outside of the building (in vehicles when possible) this last option is strongly recommended. Please note caregivers accompanying minors must remain on premises during the entirety of the session, with no exceptions.
  • During a session, depending on the treatment required, therapists and patients are required to wear either a facemask or face shield at all times.
  • Patients will be asked to enter through the front door and exit through the side and back doors to prevent congestion in the waiting area.

Facility:

  • All therapy rooms (including doorknobs, light switches, and surfaces, as well as therapy materials) will be thoroughly sanitized with a hospital-grade disinfectant prior to each session.
  • Entire facility will be thoroughly sanitized nightly by staff using top-of-the-line, non-toxic, hospital-grade cleaners via electrostatic sprayers to ensure total disinfection of all surfaces.
  • As we slowly reopen, sessions will be alternating per half-hour where one will be in person and the session immediately following will be provided via Teletherapy as a way to limit unnecessary exposure.
  • You will notice a new outdoor fenced-in area to accommodate any patients who cannot medically tolerate a mask. This new area will provide a face-to-face option to all our wonderful and diverse patients.

Thank you for all of your support and cooperation. Due to the nature of our business and the fact that we often service high-risk patients all rules will be strictly enforced with no exceptions. We truly appreciate your help during this very difficult time. Please know that Hudson Valley Speech & Swallowing Therapy PLLC is committed to not only your therapy, but to your safety as well. We look forward to seeing all of our patients!
